Brazil's state energy company Eletrobras is planning to acquire an electricity generation company in Peru, after announcing the construction of 15 hydropower plants in the country with a combined capacity of 15,000-20,000MW. This bid is required for Eletrobras to win the right to operate in Peru, where the government will hold an auction for the construction of two power dams in September-October. The announcement further consolidates Brazil's position as a key supporter of infrastructure development in Latin America through Brazilian companies' acquisitions.
