Nestlé To Pursue EM Acquisitions
With demand for bottled water in many developed markets slumping due to a reduction in discretionary spending and concerns over environmental impact, the head of Nestlé's bottled water division has announced that the firm is looking to emerging markets to drive growth. Nestlé Waters' CEO John Harris has highlighted Brazil as a key growth opportunity. As an easily-substitutable product, bottled water is clearly in a perilous position if consumers are looking to cut back on their spending, while environmental groups have also been successful in promoting tap water as equivalent in quality but without the ecological impact of transporting.
